A persistent multiplayer title needed to replace broad code-level loop culling with an audio system that could preserve environmental continuity, protect responsive player feedback, and remain stable during large encounters.

Category parents provide client-wide Global Playback Limits. Emitter- and character-owned branches add Per Game Object control. Priority and distance determine which sounds remain physical.

Profiler-led diagnosis

The investigation correlated Event posts, game-object ownership, playback notifications, and terminal notifications rather than treating the total voice count as the diagnosis.

Cause

Finite sounds were being retained by an inherited continuous virtual-voice policy.

Validated Result

Runaway accumulation removed
 

The corrected profile stabilized instead of continuing the previous staircase pattern. Continuous environmental scheduling was preserved while finite child sounds produced terminal notifications.
